PASTORAL CARE AT BGT
Each person is an important and valued member of our church family. It is our desire to provide quality pastoral care for you. We endeavour to visit the sick wherever they are, whether in hospitals, nursing homes or at home. Those who have been unable to attend church are contacted on a regular basis, both by mail and by phone. Needs and prayer requests can be submitted on the weekly “Attendance and Communication” cards or called into the church. This allows us to know who needs prayer and who needs care.
In addition, we have church volunteers who spend an evening each week contacting members of the congregation to personally pray with them, so that over the course of the year every member of the congregation will be contacted.
"We Share" Ministry
We are called to be God’s hands extended to those in need physically, emotionally and spiritually. BGT reaches out to those in need in a variety of ways. The primary goal of the "We Share" Ministry is to provide practical assistance to those people who attend BGT. This is accomplished through the collection and redistribution of food and clothing. Each year a number of food hampers are packed and distributed to those in need. Fruit baskets are delivered every Christmas to members of our congregation who are unable to attend services due to ill health. It was Jesus who said, “for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me..." (Matthew 25: 35-36a).
PASTORAL COUNSELLING
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; (Jesus said) I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." (John 10:10)
Jesus wants us to be whole.
The Lord has established the church of Jesus Christ to be a place for growth, support and encouragement for all, and has equipped members of His church to effectively minister to one another as they reach a place of maturity and strength.
Counselling is available for all those who have attended BGT consistently over a six-month period. You can call the church office to set up an appointment. There is whole-life healing in Jesus Christ. Jesus wants us to live our lives in the fullness of peace and joy. For many believers, the path to an abundant Christian life and a fruit-bearing faith depends upon correctly addressing personal histories that include alcoholism, chemical abuse, eating disorders, family dysfunction, sexual trauma or any other practice or exposure that has led to addictive or compulsive behaviours.
