NURSERY MINISTRY

We hope that both parents and children will feel at home here.

Our primary purpose is to facilitate and enhance your family's time of worship, study and service at BGT by providing a safe, sanitary and loving environment for your child.  Should you have any comments about our Nursery or any questions, please contact Kathryn Mirza at 905.387.6530 (ext. 224) and she will be glad to speak with you.

We are dedicated to the following:
  • Providing your child with the love and care necessary for a happy stay in the nursery.
  • Providing a safe, sanitary and loving environment, where little ones can rest, eat and play freely.
  • Providing parents the opportunity to worship without worry, knowing their child is happy and well cared for.
Sick children endanger the health of other children and adults.  As part of our desire to ensure the well-being of your child please do not bring your child to the Nursery if he or she has any of the following:
*  fever          * vomiting       * diarrhea       * unusual fatigue or irritability
*  coughing     * sneezing      * runny eyes    * sore throat

These procedures will make it simple & easy to use the Nursery:
Let your child know the Nursery is a safe place to play and be with friends.  Tell them that you will be back in a short time.  Our experience has shown it's hard to say goodbye.  It is easier for everyone to make it short and sweet.

Equip your child for a comfortable stay by bringing:
  • Two extra diapers
  • Bottles or food (using the tape we provide to label your child's name on bottles or cups)
  • Pacifier (if your child uses one)
  • Complete change of clothes

Concerns should be brought to the volunteer's attention at the Nursery check-in counter.  Avoid coming into the Nursery area itself.  This ensures the safety of other children and promotes a cleaner, safer space.

"Nursery A" - Play Room:
In our Play Room our 'crawlers' and 'walkers' are in an area where they enjoy lots of active playtime to meet their developmental needs.  Here we create an environment to run and play, as they begin to learn that church is at lot of fun.

"Nursery B" - Quiet Room:
Babies learn about God's great love for us through the love and care of our Nursery staff in the pleasant atmosphere where each baby's needs are met.  We realize that during the early months, babies are forming impressions about the Lord simply by associating the time spent with those who care for them.

Parents' Room:
We have a room reserved for parents during all service times.  It is located next door to our Nursery entrance, with a change table station available and a separate area for nursing mothers.  It is a room for you with a "live feed" showing the service, so you won't miss a thing.

Parent Volunteers:
BGT provides screened, trained staff to safely and lovingly care for your child.  Get to know our volunteers and encourage them.

Since the Nursery is a cooperative ministry we encourage parents to participate in its operation.   We would ask that parents volunteer to help during one service once a month.  Participation is a great opportunity to acquaint yourself with the staff as well as your child's playmates.  Ask a volunteer for a Ministry Application Form.  We always appreciate new volunteers!

As A Visitor:
When you bring your child you will fill out our registration form that identifies your child and indicates any special needs they may have.  For the Nursery Ministry you will be issued a Pager Number in case you are needed during the service.  Your number will appear in the small screen to the right of the baptismal tank in the sanctuary.  This will enable us to reach you more easily if your child is in need.

Sign-In and Pick-Up:
Keep in mind, introducing your child to our volunteers may take a few minutes.  Come prepared and allow yourself the time to sign in your child and then to find a seat and enjoy the whole service.  When you are picking up your child, your Pager Number becomes your identification.  Since your child was matched with the corresponding Pager Number, this allows for a quick pick-up and ensures safety for your child.

The Little Children & Jesus:

"Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.  Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."  And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them."  (Mark 10:14 - 16)

PRE-SCHOOL MINISTRY (Age 2 - 4)

Pre School, Age 2 (Upstairs in Room 4)

Pre School, Age 3 - 4 (Upstairs in Room 6)

Each child enjoys a healthy, 1:8 teacher-to-student ratio with age-appropriate teaching and curriculum, and they have fun while learning. We also have scheduled bathroom and snack breaks.

Where do I take my children when attending service?

Our second floor becomes a special place for our young children. It becomes their very own Kids' Street.   When you arrive you will sign in with your child’s teacher and pick them up when the service is dismissed.
